A note from Lyn Gooding – First Light CEO
I write this message on World Health Day and so I wanted to take this opportunity to extend our very grateful thanks to all those working in the NHS and other frontline services who are helping to support the unwell and vulnerable. Their selfless acts of placing themselves in harm’s way to help others is a clear example of the dedication and compassion that exists in our society today.
For my part, I am honoured to be able to lead and represent such a committed workforce who make up First Light. Our team have quickly adapted and embraced new technology, ensuring those who are affected by domestic abuse and sexual violence are still able to access the necessary support they need.
Never more than now have the services of First Light been so desperately needed. The present lockdown brought about as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak has brought out the best and worst in people.
While we witness those who are sacrificing their own health to protect the lives of others we are also witnessing an increased risk of violence and abuse, which is why the support we receive from our partners, volunteers and donors matters now more than ever.
On behalf of everyone at First Light I would like to thank you all for your continued support, we are letting people know they are not alone, they don’t need to suffer in silence as we are here to help protect and keep people safe.
Take care and stay safe
