Independent Domestic Violence Advocates (IDVAs) are specialists who provide advice and support to understand risk, do safety planning, and provide guidance on housing, practical options and next steps.
They also provide emotional support and work in a way that empowers you to make your own choices. They can provide advocacy with other agencies and support through criminal or civil justice processes where needed. Your IDVA helps to co-ordinate support, so you do not have to repeatedly share your experiences.
