Level One: Foundational Knowledge

Our Level One training courses are for anyone living and working in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly who wishes to gain foundational knowledge in Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence (DASV).

At the foundation of all DASV training is an understanding and awareness of controlling and coercive behaviour in an intimate or family relationship. Barnardo’s Safer Futures recognise that people are affected by domestic abuse or sexual violence exist in all areas of society. We provide training for all professionals across all sectors.

Level One Training Courses

Level One: Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence Training

An introduction to domestic abuse and sexual violence for those who have had no or little, previous training or previous professional experience in domestic abuse and sexual violence.

This half-day course is an introduction to domestic abuse and sexual violence for those who have had no or little, previous training or previous professional experience in domestic abuse and sexual violence. The course and is designed for people who work indirectly with people affected by domestic abuse or as an introduction to our Level Two course.

Covered within this half-day course is an introduction to:

What Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence is including the link with CSE
Coercive Control
The impact that abuse has on victims and to be able to recognise the signs and indicators
Stalking, harassment and honour-based abuse
Information Sharing
Routine enquiry with victims and signposting them to specialist support

Level One: Online Learning Package

This is Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence awareness training delivered as an Online Learning Package. It has been designed for local employers, community organisations and professionals in the health and social care sector with no previous working knowledge of Domestic Abuse.
